Post Tours

Post tours 1 - 4: Post tours are open for delegates and spouses

At each tour you will learn about special topics and conservation challenges, and your host will be Danish conservators with professional knowledge in the field presented.

Each tour is limited to a maximum of 20 participants. The tour program is subject to change and can be cancelled if number of participants are less the 20.

Registration Deadline: sign-up online at your conference registration account no later than July 25, 2017. 

Cancellation Statement: Tours cannot be cancelled after booking, unless the Conference Office is able to re-sell the tour. The tour program is subject to change and can be cancelled if number of participants are less the 20.

Tour 1: Visit the Art Conservator at Skagens Art Museum

Experience the atmosphere of the Artists’ colony for the Skagen painters. Art Conservator Dorthe Aggerholm will guide you through the experiences of establishing the new Conservation Studio with integrated public appearance and a lot of the issues around conservation and restauration in the entire collection of paintings from this artist colony and their homes with interiors and private items.

Date: Tour 1 (two days) The tour starts: Saturday 9 September at 8.30 from Copenhagen Airport. The tour ends: Sunday 10 September at 19.40 at Copenhagen Airport

Cost: Price per person in single room: DKK 4350.

Tour 2: Visit the Cultural Heritage Center Vejle, Shared Storage Facilities and Unesco World Heritage monument in Jelling

At the Cultural Heritage Center conservator Lise Ræder Knudsen will guide you through the labs and ongoing conservation work. You will visit the storage and learn about the construction principles of a low-energy museum storage building and the efforts to raise quality standards in a new storage extension. A visit to the The Unesco World Heritage site Jelling will show you the two giant mounds, a couple of large runic stones, and you’ll learn about their central position a thousand years ago in Denmark.

Date: Tour 2 (two days) starts: Friday 8 September at 17.30 from conference venue by bus. The tour ends: Saturday 9 September at 20.30 at Copenhagen Airport and 20.50 at Copenhagen Central Station

Cost: Price per person in single room: DKK 2650.

Tour 3: Visit the Conservation Centre Ølgod and The Tirpitz Post

The tour aims to give the participants an impression of the latest trends in Danish Museum’s architecture, building and exhibition principles as well as a glimpse of rough cultural and natural landscape of the Danish west coast. The North Sea is constantly shaping the sea front and has shaped the inhabitants culturally in their efforts to adapt to the environment.

Date: Tour 3 (two days) The tour starts: Friday September 8 at 17.30 from conference venue by bus. The tour ends: Saturday 9 September at 20.30 at Copenhagen Airport and 20.50 at Copenhagen Central Station.

Cost: Price per person in single room: DKK 1850.

Tour 4: Visit the island of Bornholm with historic monuments and preservation of the ceramic tradition

At this tour you will experience several thousand years of history on Bornholm. Conservators Torben Sode and Marie Vest will show some of the extraordinary rich sites and monuments dating from Bronze Age to Medieval times in the landscape. Bornholm is a center for craftsmen and designers, and you will experience the local tradition of ceramics in a working ceramics factory, which has now turned into a museum. Smokehouses and brewery is an important part of the island’s local food culture, which you will experience in you meals.
